THE BEST TIME TO VISIT AND ENJOY PANGONG IS FROM APRIL TO OCTOBER

The Merak welcomes travellers from April to October, which is the best time to visit.  A magical drive through surreal mountainous landscapes ushers you to the entrance of Pangong’s first boutique hotel that overlooks the incredible crystalline expanse of the Pangong lake or Pangong Tso. Known to be the world’s highest saltwater lake (situated at a height of over 4000 metres), the majority of Pangong rests in China, but the Indian subcontinent is lucky to share one-third of this beautiful body of water within its territory. Locals go through painstaking effort to maintain the pristinity of this lake, and we request our guests to respect the same.

Our Inspiration

Our luxury cottages are crafted with specially designed, eco-friendly polycarbonate panels that are 100% UV protected. These innovative panels harness the power of sunlight to naturally warm the cottages, reducing the need for electrical heaters and contributing to a more sustainable stay.

The multilayered roof enhances the insulation, ensuring that warmth stays inside while minimizing heat loss, creating a comfortable environment year-round.

Each cottage is beautifully adorned with artwork showcasing the diverse bird species of Ladakh, painted by the renowned Ladakhi artist, Mr. Tashi Namgial. These stunning works reflect the local avian life you might encounter during your visit, adding a unique cultural touch to your experience.

To further connect you with the natural beauty of Ladakh, the wide sky panel—crafted from transparent glass—offers you a breathtaking window into the universe, letting you gaze at the vast, star-filled sky from the comfort of your cottage.
